The Day is Done - Sunday

A quiet day on the blog means a busy day out here. It has been a big day of preparation and meeting people.
We all went to our own village services and were warmly welcomed. We sent messages of greetings and love from you all to the congregations here.
In the middle of all this (2pm onwards) we had the village day in Gyula which brings the villages together. A stage with lots of traditional dancing and singing. The Mission team did you proud with 3 rousing songs: Andy Cope on keyboard with lots of backing beats for him to select from (he loved it!) And Toby Dipper playing a mean guitar .... the rest where the backing vocals, some more reluctant than others ... but by the 3rd song we were rocking and somebody had given Andy Howe a microphone and he did a great lead singer job! I looked for Simon Cowell in the crowd but I think he has let this potential Top Ten group slip away.
We had some good conversations with the 2 majors of the areas we visit and Major Sapi from Gyula gave us a very warm welcome on the stage.
We had great fun ... however it has been raining most of the day and the showers and mud tried hard to spoilt the fun but failed miserably.
There has been controlled chaos unpacking boxes, trying to find "lost" boxes and getting some boxes to their correct location following the late coach unloading last night. As usual it has all got all sorted.
The teams are in great shape for tomorrow and all seem refreshed after a night's sleep.
Tomorrow the Mission starts in earnest. Our morning prayer and notices meeting starts at 7am in each of the villages then everyone starts their role and in it all Jesus is glorified. An early start so that we can have breakfast before we leave and many have a bit of a walk to the meeting places - it would be good if it was dry for this initial part of the day so the team do not start a busy day feeling damp!
We would value your prayers for continued good health for all the team and a strength and unity as we settle into a routine.
We give thanks that we are here and for all the support you give us. Praise the Lord.
More tomorrow and I will try and blog during the day if I can .. and will definitely do so if we need anything covered in prayer.
Yours in Christ
Ian

Ian and all,
Weather rather close at home. Good services yesterday and the vicar preached well before taking a break. There is a sense of excitement, tiredness, determination, joy in the blog which is great to read. You are in my thoughts more than ever.
May you find all strength in the Lord for your work. Keep going!

So good to catch up on your first full day in Ukraine.
Can you ask Dudley if he will be here on Sunday at the 9.30 service for his prayer ministry duty?!!
Staff coffee this morning, which is usually male dominated, was an all female affair today - you can keep Drew, Toby and Alex but make sure you send Kaitlyn back 'cos girls rule!
Continuing to pray for you all. Love Janet x
